RENO, Nev., Jan. 6, 2017 – The Oklahoma City Blue (14-7) defeated the Reno Bighorns (6-13), 123-94, on Thursday night in the Reno Events Center.
The Blue used a 45-point third quarter to down the Bighorns. Alex Caruso scored 12 points in the quarter, finishing with 20 points and eight assists.
“The underrated thing about the third quarter was how well we defended,” Head Coach Mark Daigneault said. “It allowed us to get out on the break, share the ball and made the game fun. I thought that was the reason we were able to win.”
Oklahoma City hit a season-high 24 three-pointers in the game. Cameron Payne and Caruso had six threes each, career highs for both. The Blue outscored the Bighorns by 48 points beyond the arc.
Payne, on assignment from the Thunder, finished with 22 points and four assists. Josh Huestis, fellow Thunder assignment player, led the team with 23 points and seven rebounds.
Oklahoma City led 48-45 at halftime, behind nine points from Payne. The team finished with seven players in double figures.
Oklahoma City returns home to face the Greensboro Swarm on Saturday night at 7 p.m. in the Cox Convention Center.
