Blue Struggles in Second Half, Falls to Spurs

AUSTIN, Texas, March 26, 2017 – The Oklahoma City Blue (32-16) fell to the Austin Spurs (24-24), 125-109, on Sunday evening.

With 1:39 left in the third quarter, Oklahoma City trimmed a double-digit Austin lead to four points, 86-82, on a layup by Solomon Jones. The Spurs closed the quarter on a 10-2 run and never relinquished the lead.

Jones finished with two points, two assists and two rebounds in his first game with the Blue.

The Blue opened the game strong and led by as many as seven points in the first quarter, but the Spurs responded and a three-pointer from Jeff Ledbetter gave them their first lead of the game, 29-28.

Daniel Hamilton and Josh Huestis scored six points apiece in the first quarter. Hamilton ended with 17 points, five rebounds and four assists while Huestis, on assignment from the Thunder, contributed 18 points, seven rebounds and two blocks.

Things went back and forth in the second quarter, which featured three ties and one lead change. Dakari Johnson scored eight points in the quarter, but Austin tallied 29 points in the frame, leaving Oklahoma City trailing 58-53 at halftime.

Johnson finished with 16 points and four rebounds. He was one of six in double figures for OKC, led by Alex Caruso who tallied 20 points, three rebounds and three assists.

Oklahoma City returns home on Thursday, March 30 versus the Sioux Falls Skyforce at 7 p.m. in the Cox Convention Center.
