MISSISSAUGA, Ontario, Jan. 19, 2017 – The Oklahoma City Blue (18-9) defeated the Santa Cruz Warriors (13-12), 95-86, to cap off Day Two of the 2017 NBA Development League Showcase.
With the game tied 68-68 and 2:44 left in the third period, the Blue made their move with a 17-0 run that spanned 5:48 of game clock. During the run, Oklahoma City forced 11 consecutive Santa Cruz misses and three turnovers while hitting all seven trips to the foul line. The Blue never looked back from there, with their lead only falling below double digits in the final minute of the game
“I thought we did a good job of playing on a back-to-back,” Head Coach Mark Daigneault said. “We came out with good energy, good defense and showed toughness in the fourth quarter to leave Toronto with a good taste in our mouths.”
Thunder assignment players Semaj Christon and Josh Huestis finished with 10 points and four points, respectively. Christon added a team-high five assists.
Dennis Clifford scored 14 points and grabbed a game-high 15 rebounds with two steals and three blocks in 35 minutes for the Warriors. Alex Hamilton came off the bench to score 16 points and dish out five assists in 34 minutes. Scott Wood hit 5-of-14 three-point attempts to help total 16 points with eight rebounds in 34 minutes for Santa Cruz.
Oklahoma City swept its pair of Showcase games and will next host the Iowa Energy on Thursday, Jan. 26 at 7 p.m. CT on Facebook Live.
